Subject: Announcement of the departure of Dr Louise Robert

I write to tell you that, with regret, the Federation has accepted the
resignation of Dr Louise Robert as Executive Director.  Dr Robert has held
this key position in the Federation for three and a half years and, during
that time, she has become a friend to many members of the Executive and
Board as well as to many of you in the academic community.  On behalf of
all of you, I thank her for her deep commitment to the humanities and
social sciences and wish her the very best in the future.  She leaves her
position on June 8.

I am happy to tell you that Mr. Paul Ledwell has accepted the appointment
as Acting Executive Director effective June 9.  Paul is known widely across
Canada as Director of Congress, a position he has held for five years and
in which he has demonstrated his quite outstanding ability as a
representative of your disciplines.  He has also held the position of
Associate Executive Director for the past three years.  I look forward to
working with him in this new leadership role, in which I know that he will
have your full support.
