Hello All

What a soul-blistering time this is and you'll have to forgive me for
slowing down a little as the recent events have pretty much knocked the
stuffing out of me. Time to reassess - decide what is important in my own
life, I suppose.

Meanwhile, we have another critic who will be adding his work to the
archives, he's Denis Salter, a professor at McGill and a writer for Yale
Theatre and various other publications. Again, a little balance to my
sometimes jaundiced view of things here in Montreal.

We have now surpassed last year's number for reviews archived at the site;
in all of 2000 we had 186, we are now, for 2001, at 204 and counting.

BTW: IMHO, Christopher Hoile's review of Stratford's production of the
rarely produced Henry IV plays is a gem.  Oh! that all the nation's critics
could write like this and were given the space to do it (for, as we all
know, theatre means absolutely dick to 98% of the nation's publishers and
editors). Chris always brings a sense of the company's history to his
reviews of Stratford (and of the Shaw and the COC, as a matter of fact).

Also, I'd like to thank Advisory Board member, Frank Moher, for having
written a profile for the project that was long overdue: Workshop West
Playwrights' Theatre.

All this being said; thank God for theatre - its curative powers and the
ability it gives us, even in terrible times, to reflect and, sometimes,
understand the incomprehensible. Peace and courage to you all and please
forgive all this sad blather.
