Special Guest Speaker: Professor Tracy C. Davis, Northwestern University, Illinois

 

 

A conference to explore the impact of critical theory and of politics on the writing of Irish theatre history, to offer a forum for new critical approaches to the topic, and to reflect on the growing scholarly importance of archive holdings and of library theatre collections. 

 

Proposals for 20-minute papers are invited on any of the following general areas:

 

·        Historiography and the politics of Irish theatre history

·        The social and political implications of Ireland's theatre institutions

·        Theatre archives and special collections: resources, exclusions and needs

·        Documenting alternative theatre practices

·        Theatre and political exclusion: the role of minorities 

·        Theatre protests, riots and disruptions

·        Women in Irish theatre

·        Theatre and political history

·        New research and neglected topics
