The Department of Theatre of the University of Ottawa invites
applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor
level to commence 1 July, 2002. It should be noted that this position
is in addition to the one which was posted last month. The Department
offers a 3 year BA Concentration in English and in French and a
bilingual 4 year Honours in Theatre, as well as a bilingual 3 year
Concentration in Arts Administration. It is anticipated that an MFA
programme in Directing will be instituted in 2003/04.
Qualifications: a PhD in Theatre or a related discipline; experience in
University teaching at a variety of levels; current and extensive
knowledge of Theatre History, Dramaturgy and Theory of the Theatrical
Event; and evidence of theoretical research. Candidates with experience
in an area of theatre practice, such as but not restricted to, acting or
directing, will be particularly welcomed. Since the University of
Ottawa and the Department of Theatre are bilingual, the ability to teach
in both French and English is essential.
Salary to be negotiated in accordance with the terms of the Collective
Agreement. The deadline for receipt of applications is 15 April 2002.
