The Communication Studies Programme at McMaster University invites
applications for a ten-month contractually limited appointment, effective
August 1st, 2003, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference may be
given to applicants qualified to teach in the Performance Studies Stream of
the Programme with an emphasis on courses which examine: the communicative
role of performance and its social, cultural and political significance; the
performative aspect of ceremonies; the effects of the media on audiences;
issues in performance studies; and methods. The minimum salary for the
ten-month period at the rank of assistant professor will be $40,107 as of
July 1, 2003.



Qualifications should include a Ph.D., previous teaching experience and the
ability to teach undergraduate Communication Studies courses. The successful
candidate will teach six half year courses and be expected to participate in
the research and administrative activities of the Programme.
