The FringeĀ® of Toronto Theatre Festival presents
A FRINGE BENEFIT
a special one night only benefit performance
of the popular 2000 Fringe hit play
LABRADOR
written and performed by T.J. Dawe
LABRADOR is a play about a part of the world that practically no one knows anything about - Canada's own Siberia. Follow the story of a performer touring a children's theatre production of "Treasure Island" across this unique land. While there, he stays at the Two Seasons Inn, gets screeched in, explores his father's Newfoundland roots and stumbles on a family secret.
TJ has been a stand out performer on the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit for many years and has also performed TIRED CLICHES (1998) and TRACKS (2002) at the Toronto Fringe Festival.
- "Dawe has a quicksilver mind and an Uzi-burst style of delivery . a dazzlingly funny performer. a true original and a total delight. To watch him recreating the moment where
he downed four shots of Screech at once is worth the price of admission. Go see this show."
Richard Ouzounian - Toronto Star
- "Just a funny man doing what he does best.he does it with plenty of
anecdotal charm and genuinely funny and original material."
Kamal Al-Solaylee - eye Weekly
- "One of this year's strongest offerings is LABRADOR. Dawe's rapid-fire and hilarious monologue about his trip to the isolated region."
Charles Mandel - Globe and Mail
- "After witnessing LABRADOR firsthand, it's not hard to figure out
what all the excitement is about."
Dan Lett - Winnipeg Free Press
