The Department of Dance invites applications for a full-time tenure
track position in Dance Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor, to
commence 1 July 2004. All positions at York University are subject to
budgetary approval.
We seek applicants who specialize in ethnology/anthropology and/or
world dance (theory and/or studio/performance). Experience in one or
more of the following additional areas would be an asset: dance and
technology; performance/choreography; community dance;
documentation/heritage/reconstruction; dance film/video; dance
science/somatic education; dance education; production/design for
dance; dance therapy/psychology.
The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well
as undergraduate teaching and research, and candidates must be
appointable to the Graduate Program in Dance. The ideal candidate will
have interest and experience in teaching large lecture courses for
both majors and non-majors as part of a balanced teaching schedule.
The ability to teach studio courses in World Dance will be an asset.
Requirements: Ph.D. or equivalent; candidates must show excellence or
promise of excellence in teaching and in scholarly research and
publication.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
