MOUNT ALLISON UNIVERSITY
DRAMA PROGRAMME
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Mount Allison
University's interdisciplinary, undergraduate programme in Drama. The
holder of the first full-time position dedicated solely to Drama will
provide academic, artistic, and administrative leadership for a small but
dynamic programme whose students often benefit from their association with
Mount Allison's renowned programmes in Music and Fine Arts. The programme
is integral to Mount Allison's mission of providing a liberal education of
very high quality, and is supported by an active studio theatre that serves
Drama Majors and Minors, as well as students who participate in Drama as an
extra-curricular activity.
Supported by theatre staff, the successful applicant will teach acting,
directing, and principles of production and design, and will also be
prepared to undertake a course which introduces students to dramatic forms,
history, and literature. Ability to teach dramatic theory would be an
additional asset. The appointee will direct major and studio productions,
and will join those who have already begun to plan a new Centre for
Performing and Fine Arts.
Candidates for the position should have or be near completion of a PhD and
have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and creative activity.
Subject to budgetary approval, the appointment will be made at the rank of
Lecturer or Assistant Professor, and will commence on July 1, 2004. An
application should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching
philosophy, and a statement of artistic objectives. In addition, three
letters of reference should be mailed directly to:
