Please post:
The Department of Theatre of the University of Ottawa invites
applications for a tenure-track position at either the Associate or
Assistant Professor level to commence 1 July, 2004.
The Department offers a 3 year BA Concentration in English and in French
and a bilingual 4 year Honours in Theatre, as well as a bilingual 3 year
Concentration in Arts Administration. An MFA programme in Directing is
anticipated to be instituted in 2004-2005 pending approval of the Senate
of the University of Ottawa.
Qualifications: a PhD in Theatre or the equivalent; experience in
University teaching at a variety of levels; current and extensive
knowledge of Dramaturgy and Theory of the Theatrical Event; and evidence
of theoretical research. Candidates with experience in an area of
theatre practice, such as but not restricted to directing, will be
particularly welcomed. Initially, the teaching load will be in English.
The University of Ottawa is justly proud of its 150-year tradition of
bilingualism. Through its Second Language Institute, the University
provides training to staff members and to their spouses in their second
official language. At the time of tenure, professors are expected to
have the ability to function in a bilingual setting. In certain cases,
professors must have the ability to teach in both official languages to
be granted tenure.
Salary to be negotiated in accordance with the terms of the Collective
Agreement.
