POSITION 1:
THEATRE AND FILM STUDIES
The School of the Arts at McMaster University invites applications for a
twelve-month Contractually Limited Appointment in the Theatre And Film
Studies Program at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2005.
Minimum salary at that time will be CDN $51,357 for the twelve month period.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. with a specialization in Film
Studies, or its equivalent, and significant experience in teaching a variety
of film history and critical analysis courses.
Teaching duties will include introductory undergraduate courses in film
analysis, intermediate-level courses in film history across the twentieth
century up to the present day, and possibly an open-topic senior seminar
course. Candidates with a demonstrable record of successful teaching at the
university-level will receive priority. In addition to teaching, the
successful candidate will be expected to take an active part in the
administration of the Program, and to serve on committees in the School.
Letters of application must include a curriculum vitae, three letters of
reference sent directly to McMaster, and an indication of how the applicant
envisions the implementation of courses in the above areas. Descriptions of

experience in Directing. Equivalent professional training and experience
will be considered.

course in acting, play direction, and stage management. Candidates with a
demonstrable record of successful teaching at the university-level, and
experience in organizing theatre events will receive priority. In addition
to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to take an active
part in the administration of the Program, and to serve on committees in the
School.
