Bonjour,
This continuous journey resembles the story of the play _Maître après
Dieu_. by Jan de Hartog, about a boat of jewish exiles tring to find a
harbour. It was first p'ublished in Netherlands, 1945. A film has been
made after the french translation ao the play.
The 7,400 Douhohors, deciding to quit Russia and to come in Canada, had
more chance, thanks to Leopold Soulerjitski, who became later on the
assistant of Stanislavski. He rented and adapted canadian lakers for the
"journey" (1898-1899). But they had to find friendley villages or to
build some, which they finally did, under his supervision. See:

.Soulerjitski published a booklet on his advenrture: _In America with the
Doukhobors_, reedited in 1977 (University of Regina. Canadian Plains
Research Center),
Best regards, André G. Bourassa.
