The Fringe of Toronto Theatre Festival is pleased to announce its inaugural

  NEXT STAGE THEATRE FESTIVAL
  January 2 to 13, 2008
at the Factory Mainspace and Studio Theatres (125 Bathurst St.)

The Toronto Fringe’s 20th anniversary year kicks off this January with the first annual Next Stage Theatre Festival.

The Next Stage Theatre Festival’s goal is to provide another affordable and supportive production opportunity to theatre companies and artists who have previously produced an artistically successful production in a Canadian Association of Fringe® Festivals’ member event so that they may be able to reach a broader audience, build upon their previous efforts and success, and to continue to develop their skills and career.

A panel has selected this year’s lineup of eight companies based on the merits of a finished script and past artistic success – seven from the 55 applications submitted, and one from the participants of the 2007 Toronto Fringe Festival.

We are very pleased to announce the following productions in the 2008 Next Stage Theatre Festival:

Conservatives In Love

  By Dave Carley
Directed by Sue Miner

  About the Play
Conservatives in Love is a study of two things: those mysterious new urbanites who are moving into all those towering downtown condos. And the non-economic value of Art. The play is mostly set at the Art Gallery of Ontario. It brings together ten young downtowners who are converging for a Young Conservatives meet and greet. At this meeting, they will learn the exact value of a Henry Moore, and they will spend an indecent amount of time hitting on each other. (Because that is what Young Conservatives do.)

  The creative team
