The Canadian Association for Theatre Research/ Association Canadienne de la Recherche Théâtrale is pleased to announce the winners of our Scholarly Prizes. Certificates were presented during the annual conference, held at Carleton University in Ottawa, May 23-26, 2009.
Ann Saddlemyer Book Award for 2008.
The Saddlemyer Committee, Ric Knowles (Chair), Jennifer Stephenson, and Susan Knutson, selected Sherrill Grace's Making Theatre: A Life of Sharon Pollock as winner of the Saddlemyer Book Prize for this year.
Richard Plant Award for 2008.
Committee members Susan Bennett (Chair), James Hoffman and Marlis Schweitzer selected Kim Solga's essay, "The Line, The Crack, and the Possibility of Architecture: Figure, Ground, Feminist Performance," published in Theatre Research in Canada volume 21, no. 1 (Spring 2008) as the Plant Prize Winner for this year.
An honorable mention to Julie Salverson's "Taking liberties: a theatre class of foolish witnesses," published in Research in Drama Education 13.2 (June 2008).
Jean-Cléo Godin Award for 2008.
Committee members Leanore Lieblein (Chair), David Fancy and Cam Culham selected Karen Fricker for 'À l'Heure zéro de la culture (dés)unie. Problèmes de représentation dans Zulu Time de Robert Lepage et Ex Machina.' Globe : Revue internationale d'études québécoises. 11.2 (2008): 81-116. Translated by Rémy Charest.
Also, a "Special Mention" for the dossier "Les arts de la scène au Québec" in the issue of Globe in which Fricker's article appears. The Editor of this issue is Dr. Erin Hurley.
