Sorry for those of you who've already received this but I thought some people on this list (but not on the ATHE list) might want to respond.

Cheers,

Wes

The question I have been confronting of late is this: Is there a common foundation of knowledge that all recipients of a bachelors degree in theatre should have or hold in common regardless of where the program of study exists? If so, what would constitute such a foundation? Would it result in what might be called "the essentials"? BTW, I'm not talking about experiences of a practical nature, but "readings," the foundation texts upon which the practical is based.
E-mail me separately if you have a response to this query. I have my own list of "essentials" that I use, but I don't trust it, not completely. Any response to this question would be welcome, even those to the opposite side of the matter--a common foundation of knowledge and/or experience for the undergraduate is not necessary or desirable.

Thanks.
