*ACTING*
The Department of Theatre invites applications for a nine-month
Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) teaching position in *Acting*,
at the Sessional Assistant Professor level, with graduate and
undergraduate teaching responsibilities, effective August 15, 2012,
subject to budgetary approval.In addition to teaching, the appointment
will include service at the departmental level*. *
The position requires a person qualified to teach Acting at all levels
in the undergraduate Acting Conservatory and at the Graduate level for
the MFA in Acting. Experience teaching Directing and/or Acting for the
Camera is an asset.S/he must have extensive professional experience
acting and/or directing in the professional theatre, plus a proven
record of teaching acting for the profession and at a University level.
The Acting Area of the Department of Theatre includes a three-year
undergraduate conservatory and a two-year graduate program in
acting.York's Department of Theatre has over 400 students pursuing BFA
or BA degrees in performance, devised theatre, theatre studies,
playwriting, production and design.The Graduate Program includes a PhD
and MA in interdisciplinary performance research and an MFA in acting,
directing, design and a directing partnership with Canadian Stage, (a
large professional regional theatre) as well as a Diploma in Voice
Teaching, The department has the only MFA in acting in Canada and is in
the forefront of developing sustainability in design for performance at
the graduate level.
The qualified candidate will hold an appropriate MFA degree or
recognized training certificate, with teaching and acting/directing
experience.
Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of
the candidate.
