Subject: Archetype Workshop with Frankie Armstrong
VOICING THE ARCHETYPES OF MYTHS AND LEGENDS
WITH FRANKIE ARMSTRONG, DARIEN PRITCHARD & JANET RODGERS
WORKSHOP ON CAPE COD: July 13-20, 2013
A Teacher Training Workshop will be held next summer, July 13-20th on Cape
Cod in Massachusetts. The workshop, Voicing the Archetypes of Myths and
Legends, will be lead by the extraordinary singer and voice trainer
Frankie Armstrong, www.FrankieArmstrong.com, her husband, movement
specialist and Feldenkrais practitioner, Darien Pritchard, with
applications of the work led by Janet Rodgers, co-author, with Frankie of
Acting and Singing with Archetypes. This unique work incorporates voice,
body and imagination to explore archetypes which inhabit myths and legends
of many diverse cultures.
With Frankie, participants will sing, dance, chant, drone, yodel and give
voice to vocal ornamentation and made-up languages in preparation for
journeys into the archetypes.
With Darien, participants will focus on aspects of body release and energy
that relate directly to each archetypal journey. Building on all of these
discoveries, Frankie will lead participants on journeys that breathe life
into universal archetypal essences that we all recognize; the Trickster,
Benevolent Leader, Devil, Mother, Child, Lover, Huntress, Noble Warrior,
Prophetess. With Janet participants will apply the work to character and
text.
Each workshop day will be divided into two-three hour sessions with a
break in the afternoon for reflection, conversation, swimming and rest. A
communal meal will begin and end the week. Time will be allotted for
discussions of teaching the work. Participants, unless they make other
arrangements, will be housed in small cottages on East Sandwich Beach
overlooking Cape Cod Bay. All of the cottages have kitchen facilities plus
Steven Barker will put his culinary talents into play and preparing
lunches and dinners for the group. The daily workshops will take place in
Sandwich?s historic Grange Hall. Mid-week, the group will take a excursion
to Provincetown.
The cost of the week-long workshop is $975.00. Housing in the cottages is
$400.00 -$600 for the week (depending on double or single occupancy), with
the check in time 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, the 13th and check out time 10:00
AM on Saturday, the 20th.
Cape Cod is easily accessed by air into Boston?s Logan Airport and from
there by Plymouth and Brockton Bus to Cape Cod or by car via the Sagamore
or Bourne bridges. For those without cars, daily transportation will be
provided.
We hope you will join us on this exciting weeklong journey in the magical
environment of Cape Cod. If interested, please contact Janet Rodgers at
janetrodgers at verizon.net .
