After a year of excellent publications and rewarding scholarship, the
Canadian Association for Theatre Research / Association canadienne de la
recherche théâtrale (CATR/ACRT) is pleased to announce the results of the
following awards competitions.



These prizes were awarded at the annual banquet, held at the Perimeter
Institute on May 28, 2012, during our conference in Waterloo:



The Patrick O’Neill Award for Editing was awarded to Nina Lee Aquino and
Ric Knowles, eds. *Asian Canadian Theatre* (Toronto: Playwrights Canada,
2011).



The Ann Saddlemyer Award for a Book in English or French was awarded to
Alan Filewod. *Committing Theatre: Theatre Radicalism and Political
Intervention in Canada* (Toronto: Between the Lines, 2011).



The Jean-Cléo Godin Award for an article in French was awarded to Nicole
Côté. “Représentation de la minorisation dans “L’année du Big Mac, de Marc
Prescott” in (*Se) raconter des histoires: histoire et histories dans les
littératures francophones du Canada*, dir. Lucie Hotte (Sudbury: Éditions
Prise de paroles, 2010).



The Richard Plant Award for an article in English was awarded to Glen
Nichols. “Identity in Performance in Carol Shields’s Stage Plays” from
*West-Words:
Celebrating Western Canadian Theatre and Playwrighting*. Ed. Moira Day.


Honourable mention went to Christine Kim for “Performing Asian Canadian
Intimacy: Theatre Replacement’s Bioboxes and Awkward Multiculturalism”
in *Asian
Canadian Theatre*, edited by Nina Lee Aquino and Ric Knowles.



The Heather McCallum Scholarship was awarded this year to Helene Vosters
for research at the Canadian War Museum and its Military History Research
Centre in Ottawa, and into the public ceremonies commemorating the
bicentennial of the War of 1812.



CATR/ACRT Awards were presented to the following:

The International panel: Kimberly Richards

The Intercultural panel: Jointly awarded to Majdi Bou-Matar, Rahul Varma,
and Donna-Michelle St.Bernard

The Performance and Practice panel: Helene Vosters

The French/Francophone panel: Michelle MacArthur

These new awards are the result of our successful fundraising campaign.



*The 2012 CATR/ACRT Honorary Membership was awarded to Nina Lee Aquino for
her outstanding contribution to Canadian theatre.*



After deliberations at the end of the conference, the 2012 Robert Lawrence
Prize for outstanding conference paper by an emerging scholar was awarded
to Helene Vosters for her paper, “Between Two Worlds: Reflections on a Year
of Falling.”  Honourable mention went to Jessica Riley for her paper, “The
Dramaturge and/as Hyphen-ated Artist-Scholar.”

Special thanks are due to Kathleen Irwin, the Scholarly Awards Coordinator,
and to all the members of the selection committees. Full details, including

Nous avons connu une année faste en publications et de grande qualité en
recherche. L’Association est donc heureuse de diffuser le nom des lauréats
des divers prix annuels.



Les prix ont été remis durant le banquet de fin d’année, qui a eu lieu au
Perimeter Institute le 28 mai dernier lors de notre colloque à Waterloo :



Le prix Patrick O’Neill pour la direction d’un recueil de textes a été
attribué à Nina Lee Aquino et Ric Knowles pour *Asian Canadian
Theatre*(Toronto: Playwrights Canada, 2011).



Le prix Ann Saddlemyer pour un livre en français ou en anglais a été

le bicentenaire de la Guerre de 1812.



Les prix de l’ACRT/CATR ont été attribués ainsi :

Prix de la recherche internationale : Kimberly Richards

Prix de la recherche interculturelle : Majdi Bou-Matar, Rahul Varma et
Donna-Michelle St.Bernard, conjointement

Prix pratique et performance : Helene Vosters

Prix théâtre, dramaturgie et performance en français : Michelle MacArthur



Ces nouveaux prix ont pu être remis grâce au succès de notre campagne de
financement.



*Le titre de membre honoraire de l’ACRT/CATR pour 2012 a été attribué à
Nina Lee Aquino pour sa contribution exceptionnelle au théâtre canadien.*


Après délibérations, à la fin du colloque, le prix Robert Lawrence 2012
récompensant une communication exceptionnelle donnée par un ou une jeune
chercheur(e) a été attribué à Helene Vosters. Sa communication s’intitulait
“Between Two Worlds: Reflections on a Year of Falling.” Une mention
honorable est allée à Jessica Riley pour sa communication “The Dramaturge
and/as Hyphen-ated Artist-Scholar”.
