(TORONTO, ON – Tuesday, January 8, 2013 ) Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC)
is proud to announce the release of *Translation Guidelines for playwrights
and translators**. *

In August of 2012, PGC contracted Governor General’s Award for Literary
Translation nominee and former literary agent, *Bobby Theodore*, to conduct
the research, with the goal of create contract guideline for playwrights
and theatre translators to protect the artistic rights of writers.



The resulting *Translation Guidelines *are* *designed to provide helpful
tips for playwrights seeking professional translation of their work, as
well as guide to aid negotiating fair terms, once a translator is found.

for theatre translation,” *said *Robin Sokoloski*, Executive Director of
Playwrights Guild of Canada, “*Bobby Theodore has done an excellent job at
bringing together the key elements that one must consider before having
their play translated,"*



The guidelines (including a contract template) are now available for
download by members at:
