MA graduate looking for employment in Vancouver

Tara Gallagher Harris

I am currently completing my Masters of Arts at Queen Mary, University of London in Performance Studies. I graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2011 with my Bachelor of Fine Arts. Between these two degrees I worked in Vancouver, Canada as both as a theatre free lancer and with my own collective O, o, o, o. 

Before and during my Undergraduate degree I worked as a dance instructor and I am confident in leading Ballet to an intermediate level, and Jazz, Contemporary and Hip hop to an advanced level. My movement training also includes Pilates, Laban and Yoga.

Within the theatre I am skilled at leading collaborative work, devising and actor training. I am trained in mask and clown work (Lecoq and Pochinko at an intermediate level) and I have a experience in many other physical theatre disciplines. I am also very capable as a dramaturge, actor, director and devisor. I have studied voice training in University, as well as with the Canadian National Voice Intensive.

On the administrative side, I held the position of Marketing Manager for the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University in 2011. I also competed a legal internship at Nash & Company Litigators and Solicitors in Vancouver, Canada for 2012. In this position I acted both as an administrative legal assistant, while also shadowing the lawyers of the firm. 

I would love to find a position in Vancouver, Canada so that I can continue to develop my own collective and continue to work along side the companies I already have strong relationships with such as Leaky Heaven Circus and Radix (both of which I, along side O, o, o, o. will be completing residencies with in the coming months), Theatre Replacement and the Playwrights Theatre Centre. Ideally I am looking for a hands on position in which I can develop my practice as an instructor in acting and movement as well as being a creator. I am also extremely open to other more administratively focused positions in which I can continue to develop my skills as a writer and academic. I am a natural leader with great organizational skills and am great working with a team. I am of course also interested positions outside of Vancouver if it is the right fit.
