Please circulate this opportunity--a continuing position--to interested and qualified parties. In the Australian system, 'Associate Professor' is a more senior position than in North America. The University of Queensland ranks well into the world's top 100 universities. Note: the Australian application process places great store on the statement that answers the selection criteria.

Thanks, Joanne (with apologies for cross-posting)

Associate Professor in Drama
A continuing position in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Academic Level D ($128,107.95 - $141,136.21). Job no: 496750

UQ Drama
UQ Drama comprises a major and extended major at the undergraduate level, and MPhil and PhD degrees by research. The program's remit is 'Drama through time and across cultures', reflecting our commitment to a depth-and-breadth approach to theatre history and performance practices across the gamut of the Western canon and into key parallel cultural contexts. Where possible, students are encouraged to make the connections between theatre historiography, critical theory and practices of performance. Teaching takes place in a workshop context (that is, either in lecture and workshop-tutorial format or, for third-year and honours courses, the seminar format), and there is no audition for students to apply. The Drama area is staffed by leading teachers and researchers who actively participate in industry networks. Staff publications include work on Theatre and Spatial Inquiry, Cultural Geography, Australian Theatre Studies, Postcolonial Theatre, Theatre Historiography, Theatre of the Asia-Pacific Regions, Dramaturgy, Gothic Studies, Playwriting, Shakespeare Studies and Restoration Theatre spaces. Staff are also members of grant-driven research teams working on digital archives that include AusStage and the Cultural Atlas of Australia. Further information about the School which houses Drama is available at www.communication-arts.uq.edu.au<http://www.communication-arts.uq.edu.au/>.
The role
To contribute to the teaching of a range of introductory and advanced level Drama Studies units as required, covering courses that engage with history, theory, and practice. Teaching methods may include lecture, seminar, tutorial and online formats, as well as, in some cases, performance. To engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in additional postgraduate supervision. The position-holder is expected to have and maintain a record of high-quality research, disseminated through articles in leading journals, book chapters and books with leading presses. The position holder will build productive research relationships that attract research funding.
