The Department of Theatre at the University of Victoria invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Set and Lighting Design.  The successful candidate will be appointed as Assistant Professor (tenure-track). It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin their duties on July 1, 2016.

The appointee will be responsible primarily for teaching set and lighting design at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the new faculty member will be responsible for designing sets and lighting for some of the Department of Theatre’s “Mainstage” productions, and will supervise student designers working on department productions.
Requirements

Candidates will have an advanced degree (e.g. MFA), documented success teaching courses at a post-secondary institution, and significant professional theatre experience.  The successful candidate will also demonstrate the capacity to meet tenure expectations for creative/research projects, teaching activities, and service commitments related to the department and the university.  In addition, the ideal applicant will have the ability to teach a range of courses and to contribute to the growth of the curriculum in one or more of the following areas: costume design, history of scenography, projection design, scene painting, and/or sound design.
