The University of Windsor's School of Dramatic Art invites applications for a Three-Year Limited-Term faculty position in Acting at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2016. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. 

The School of Dramatic Art at the University of Windsor is one of the oldest and best established theatre and drama programs in the country. Our graduates have made a mark on both the world stage and in film, as well as in education. Currently Dramatic Art offers honours degree programs in Acting, Drama in Education and Community, and Dramatic Art, and a wide ranging subscription season of plays through University Players that serve the community. The School of Dramatic Art operates in a state-of-the-art facility, which opened in July 2003 and contains spacious studios for Acting, Voice, Movement, and Drama in Education and Community, and a flexible-seat Studio Theatre. All studios are equipped for video-conferencing, sound, and have computer connections for power point delivery. University Players, the acting company of the School of Dramatic Art, also operates a 322 seat main stage in Essex Hall. The City of Windsor has a vital and expanding cultural community and we are within easy driving distance to Stratford, Toronto, Detroit, and Chicago. Responsibilities:
The incumbent will teach acting in the BFA Acting program as well as directing of main stage productions. Additional teaching responsibilities will include teaching acting styles and genres in the form of works- in-progress, and other areas of the candidate's expertise may include, but is not limited to:  text analysis; scene study; directing; physical theatre; and television/film performance.

The successful candidate will report to the School’s Director as Chair of the University Players Committee.  Duties will include: season selection; scheduling; and budgetary matters. 

Essential Qualifications:  
Applicants must have an MFA in Acting and/or Directing or demonstrated significant professional experience equivalent to an MFA in acting and/or directing; experience with heightened text as an actor, director, and/or artistic director, as well as classical work, including the works of Shakespeare.  It is essential that the incumbent have significant current experience in acting and/or directing in professional theatre.

•	sample of creative and/or scholarly work;  
•	sample course outlines (actual or proposed);  
•	teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness;  and
•	three current letters of reference forwarded directly by the referees to the Director.
