Friends!
Your conference planning team in Calgary are putting the finishing touches on our away day to Banff, and I wanted to send a quick update for those of you who are looking to book travel as soon as possible.
The day will be Friday, 27 May, the day before our official conference start. (This is also the day when executive committee meetings are traditionally held... Sorry, exec friends!) We have hired a motor coach that seats 45, which will take us from the university campus to the Banff Centre mid-morning. (No early departure; I am not a morning person!) Once there, we will see the facilities, meet artists in residence, and learn a bit about the history and practice of the arts in Banff; we will then be given a delicious lunch at the Centre's gorgeous on-site canteen, and let loose in the town to sight-see for a time. If people want to hike, there will be a hike on/around Tunnel Mountain, which is beautiful. I guarantee that hike!
We will return to Calgary late in the afternoon, and everyone will be free for supper on their own. There will likely be the usual pub and meet events that evening, as is tradition - more on those in due course.
The cost for the day will hover around $50 a head, all included; we will have firm numbers shortly as well as an online booking portal for those interested. Please watch this space and the CATR members' list for details!
Good wishes,
Kim
