CATR/ACRT Awards 2016: Call for Nominations

The CATR/ACRT conference awards were established in 2010 to support travel expenses for emerging scholars, theatre practitioners, and independent or underemployed scholars presenting at the CATR/ACRT annual meeting.

There are four awards, valued at $500 each:

  *   Theatre Practice
  *   Outstanding submission for an open or curated panel
  *   Outstanding submission for a seminar, roundtable, praxis session, or other format
  *   First-time CATR/ACTR participants


Eligibility

  *   CATR/ACRT defines an "emerging scholar" as a graduate student or someone who has been out of graduate school for less than 5 years.
  *   Candidates must be members in good standing of CATR/ACRT and will have already had their work accepted for presentation in open panels, curated panels, seminars, roundtables, or praxis sessions at the 2016 annual conference.
  *   Theatre Practice: submissions must relate to an artistic project (in the past, present, or future), of which the candidate is a direct participant
  *   First-time CATR/ACTR participants: candidates may have attended—but not presented at—previous CATR/ACTR conferences
  *   CATR welcomes submissions in either official language, and across the full spectrum of drama, theatre, and performance studies.


Application information
Candidates should submit the following materials:

  *   A brief cover letter indicating the candidate's eligibility and stating the specific award category(ies) for which the submission should be considered.
     *   Theatre Practice: a 2–4 page project description, along with up to 6 pages of supplementary material (images, text, reviews, etc.).
     *   Outstanding submission for an open or curated panel: an 8–10 page paper (double-spaced) representing the majority of the conference presentation.
     *   Outstanding submission for a seminar, roundtable, praxis session, or other format: up to 10 double-spaced pages representing the majority of the conference contribution.
     *   First-time CATR/ACTR participants: submit materials according to the guidelines for the most relevant of the three other categories.
  *   Nominations can come from the candidate her/himself OR from her/his panel curator, seminar, roundtable, or session leader.
  *   Nominations are due 9 May 2016; they should be sent via email to Nicholas Hanson (nicholas.hanson at uleth.ca<mailto:nicholas.hanson at uleth.ca>).


Award winners will be announced in May and celebrated at the banquet in Calgary.


Mises en candidature pour les prix d’excellence de l’ACRT/CATR 2016

Les prix d’excellence du colloque de l’ACRT/CATR sont décernés depuis 2010 afin de contribuer aux dépenses de voyage des chercheurs émergents et praticiens ainsi qu’aux chercheurs indépendants ou sans emploi qui présentent une communication lors du colloque annuel.

Quatre prix sont remis, d’une valeur de 500 $ chacun :

  *   Pratique théâtrale
  *   Communication exceptionnelle lors d’une séance thématique ou d’un débat
  *   Communication exceptionnelle lors d’un séminaire, d’une table ronde, d’un atelier de praxis ou dans un autre format
  *   Première participation au colloque


Admissibilité

  *   L’ACRT définit le terme « chercheur émergent » comme une personne diplômée étudiant toujours ou travaillant depuis moins de cinq ans.
  *   Les candidats doivent être membres actifs de l’ACRT et avoir été acceptés pour présenter une communication dans un débat, une séance thématique, une table ronde, un séminaire ou un atelier de praxis au colloque de 2016.
  *   Pratique théâtrale : les candidatures doivent être liées à un projet artistique (passé, présent ou futur) auquel le candidat participe directement.
  *   Première participation : les candidats peuvent avoir déjà assisté au colloque dans les années passées, mais présentent une communication pour la première fois.
  *   L’ACRT accueille les propositions dans les deux langues officielles et dans toutes les sphères des études du théâtre, de la dramaturgie et de la représentation.


Candidature
Les candidats doivent soumettre les éléments suivants :

  *   Une brève lettre de présentation expliquant leur admissibilité et précisant la ou les catégories dans lesquelles la candidature doit être considérée.

  *   Pratique théâtrale : une description du projet en 2 à 4 pages, accompagnée de documents d’appoint d’au maximum 6 pages (images, textes, critiques, etc.).
  *   Communication exceptionnelle lors d’une séance thématique ou d’un débat : un texte de 8 à 10 pages (à double interligne) représentant l’essentiel de la communication.
  *   Communication exceptionnelle lors d’un séminaire, d’une table ronde, d’un atelier de praxis ou dans un autre format : un texte d’au maximum 10 pages (à double interligne) représentant l’essentiel de la communication.
  *   Première participation : soumettre le dossier correspondant à la plus pertinente parmi les trois autres catégories.

  *   Les candidatures peuvent provenir du candidat lui-même ou du responsable de la séance ou table ronde, du débat, séminaire ou atelier où il est admis.
  *   La date limite pour la mise en candidature est le 9 mai 2016. Les dossiers doivent parvenir à Nicholas Hanson par courriel (nicholas.hanson at uleth.ca<mailto:nicholas.hanson at uleth.ca>)


Les lauréats seront annoncés en mai et récompensés lors du banquet annuel à Calgary.
