UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA – GRADUATE STUDIES PROGRAMS IN THEATRE

Master of Arts in Theatre (MA) (Theatre Theory and Dramaturgy)

Our MA students develop the analytical and scholarly skills they need for doctoral studies in a program that teaches new approaches to the practice of dramaturgy and to creative writing for performance. Instructors and graduate supervisors include Louise Frappier, Yana Meerzon & Sylvain Schryburt.

We offer three options :

  *   MA with thesis (two years)
  *   MA with thesis and creative project (two years)
  *   NEW : MA with courses and research paper (one year)


NEW : The program is offered full-time and part-time.

The application process is on-going: the first deadline for applications is February 1st, however we will consider all strong applications until the program is filled.

Our MFA students learn contemporary approaches to theatre directing in a program that embraces both the creation of original work and the re-examination of traditional repertoire. Our students work in state-of-the-art theatre spaces (3 theatres, 6 studios), taking four practical and two academic seminars. They direct three incrementally more sophisticated productions over the course of two years. They work with the students from our BFA in Contemporary Acting, lead a team of professional actors or dancers and work with professional designers on their productions. Instructors and artistic mentors include Daniel Mroz, Anne-Marie Ouellet and Kevin Orr.

The MFA in Directing is a full-time program only (two years).

The deadline for applications is February 1st.

Maîtrise en Arts (M.A.) (Théorie théâtrale et dramaturgie)

Nos étudiants inscrits à la M.A. développent et perfectionnent leurs compétences académiques et leur créativité, ainsi que la curiosité intellectuelle requise pour poursuivre des études au niveau doctoral dans un programme qui aborde les nouvelles approches en dramaturgie et en écriture théâtrale. Louise Frappier, Yana Meerzon et Sylvain Schyburt figurent parmi les professeurs habilités à superviser des thèses de maîtrise au sein de notre département.
Le programme de M.A. en théorie théâtrale et dramaturgie comprend trois options :

  *   M.A. avec thèse (deux ans)
  *   M.A. avec thèse et projet de création (deux ans)
  *   NOUVEAU : M.A. avec cours et mémoire de recherche (un an)

NOUVEAU : Le programme est offert à temps plein et à temps partiel.

La date limite pour l’envoi des candidatures est le 1er février. Sous réserve de disponibilité dans le programme, les dossiers de très bon niveau continueront à être examinés après les dates limites.

Maîtrise en pratique théâtrale (M.P.T.) (mise en scène)

Ce programme permet l’exploration des approches contemporaines de la mise en scène théâtrale dans un programme qui englobe à la fois la création d'œuvres originales et le réexamen du répertoire. Ce programme comprend quatre séminaires pratiques et deux séminaires académiques, de même que la création de trois productions sur une période de deux ans. Nos étudiants travaillent dans des espaces de théâtre ultramodernes (3 théâtres, 6 studios). Ils collaborent avec les étudiants de notre programme de premier cycle en jeu contemporain, dirigent une équipe d'acteurs ou de danseurs professionnels et travaillent avec des designers professionnels. Les instructeurs et mentors artistiques incluent Daniel Mroz, Anne-Marie Ouellet et Kevin Orr.

Ce programme de deux ans est offert à temps plein uniquement.
