The event aims to cross borders of nationalisms and social strata to understand how researchers, students, artists, public managers, workers of various categories, social movements and human rights organizations can act collaboratively with transmigrants in the face of a dramatic context of violation of rights, continuous racism and xenophobia. Therefore the Forum has designed spaces to promote the exchange of knowledge, expanding local and global networks and resistances.
Counting with the support of CAPES, Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, a Braziliand funding agency from the Federal Government and from ECA-USP (Escola de Comunicação e Artes / School of Communications and Arts), the program will feature international guest conferences, debates, working groups. workshops, and an Human Rights Information Desk. About The Third International Crossed Borders Forum
The Forum has the general coordination of Prof. Dr. Artur Matuck (ECA/ PGEHA/ Diversitas-USP), in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Vera Telles (FFLCH-USP), Prof. Dr. Paulo Daniel Farah (FFLCH-USP / Diversitas / NAP-Brazil-Africa) and Prof. Dr. Patrícia Villen (Research Center Abdelmalek Sayad). The event, produced and curated by researcher and lawyer Karina Quintanilha (IFCH-UNICAMP / CDHIC), represents the integrated work of a wide network of researchers belonging to the (Organizational and Scientific Commissions of the Forum, in close cooperation with students, social workers, lawyers, migrant collectives, cultural spaces, and research groups from Brazil and abroad, especially those from Latin America, Canada and Europe.
Fontié Ki Kwaze, means, in Haitian creole, 'boundaries that cross'. The Fontié ki Kwaze - Crossed borders Forum was born precisely from the influence of the history of the Haitian people in Latin America and the importance of the recent flow of transnational migrants, from various parts of the world to Brazil resulting in a growing refugee situation.
The Forum has been constituted as an interdisciplinary, social, artistic and multicultural academic initiative since 2017 at USP committed to the production of critical knowledge in the humanities and arts, and also with the training of human resources that meet the demands of society in the face of the global context of forced migrations and displacements.
