Each year, CATR recognizes the accomplishments of its members and others in
our field with a number of scholarships and awards.

Nominations for the Richard Plant Award, the Jean-Cléo Godin Award, the Ann
Saddlemyer Award, and the Patrick O’Neill Award will be determined by
individual committees. These committees are tasked with surveying a wide
range of publications from throughout the calendar year(s). *In order to
assist these committees, members of CATR are strongly encouraged to contact
**Scholarly Awards Coordinator and self-nominate their work.* Further, the
Association strongly encourages ALL those who are interested in the field
of Canadian theatre and performance studies to let the Coordinator or a
specific committee chair know about work that has impressed them over the
course of the year, especially work that may be ‘off the beaten path’ (for
example, in edited collections or non-Canadian journals) and that deserves
to be brought to committee members’ attention.

The awards honour scholarly work of significant merit in any area of
Canadian theatre or performance research. The authors do not have to be
members of the Association.

The deadline for all 2021 Scholarly Award Submissions is *January 23, 2022*.
Nominations (via email) simply need to include the author’s name, title of
work, title of journal or anthology (if applicable) and which prize the
work is being nominated. There is no need for a seconder or any other
supporting documentation. *CATR members are strongly encouraged to
self-nominate*. Nominations / submissions of work to be considered for all
awards should be sent to <catrawardscoordinator at gmail.com >

Nominations are sought for the following awards:

·      *Richard Plant Award:* Named in honour of one of the Association’s
co-founders, this award is given annually to the best English-language
article on a Canadian theatre or performance topic. The award is given in
alternate years to a long form article/article/book chapter and a short
form article, blog post or substantial piece of written criticism. The 2022
award will be given to a long form article and/or a book chapter in a
scholarly collection, published in 2020 and/or 2021.

·      *Jean-Cléo Godin Award:* Honouring a founder of both this
Association and SQET this award is given annually to the best scholarly
article or article focused on research-creation in French, this award
honours work of significant merit in any area of Canadian theatre or
performance research.

·      *Ann Saddlemyer Award:* Named in honour of the association’s
co-founder, the Ann Saddlemyer Award goes to the best book published in
English or French in a given year. The winning book should normally be
broadly on a Canadian topic, and should constitute a substantial
contribution to Canadian Theatre and Performance Studies.

·      *Patrick O’Neill Award: *Honouring a respected editor and champion
of the Association, the Patrick O’Neill Award is given each year to the
best edited collection published in either English or French on a Canadian
theatre and performance topic. The award is given in alternate years to a
play anthology and an essay collection. *For the 2022 award, collections of
articles published in 2020 or 2021 will be considered.*

Chaque année, l’ACRT reconnaît, par l’entremise d’un certain nombre de
bourses et de prix, les réalisations de ses membres ainsi que celles
d’autres personnes œuvrant dans notre domaine.

Les nominations pour les prix Richard Plant, Jean-Cléo Godin, Ann
Saddlemyer et Patrick O’Neill seront déterminées par des comités de
sélection différents qui ont pour tâche de passer en revue un large
éventail de publications tout au long de l’année ou des années
concernées. *Afin
d’aider ces comités, les membres du CATR sont encouragé·e·s à communiquer
avec le coordonnateur des prix et Mettre de l'avant leur propre candidature
à la nomination du [d'un / des] prix.* De plus, l’Association encourage
fortement TOUTES les personnes intéressées par le théâtre canadien ou les
études de la performance à faire part au coordonnateur – ou à la personne
responsable d’un comité en particulier – des contributions à la recherche
qui vous semblent marquantes pour l’année en cours, notamment les
recherches méritoires qui se situent hors des sentiers battus (dans les
recueils, dans les revues spécialisées ou étrangères, etc.).

Nos prix reconnaissent les recherches particulièrement significatives en
études théâtrales et de la performance au Canada. Sont également
admissibles les travaux des personnes qui ne sont pas membres de
l’Association.

La date limite pour les nominations aux prix d’excellence 2021 est le *23
janvier 2022*. Les candidatures, à envoyer par courriel, doivent simplement
inclure le nom de l’auteur·e, le titre de son livre ou de son article, le
titre de la revue ou de l’anthologie (le cas échéant), ainsi que le prix
pour lequel l’article ou le livre devrait être nominé. Les candidatures
n’ont pas à être appuyées par une autre personne, ni par une quelconque
documentation. *Les membres de l’ACRT sont fortement encouragé·e·s à **proposer
leur propre travail. *Prière d’envoyer les nominations pour chaque prix a <

Nous sollicitons des nominations pour les prix suivants :

·      *Prix Richard Plant :* Nommé en l’honneur d’un des cofondateurs de
l’Association, ce prix est remis chaque année au meilleur article de langue
anglaise traitant de théâtre ou de performance au Canada. Le prix est
décerné en alternance à un article long ou un chapitre de livre, puis
l’année suivante à un article court ou un billet de blogue ou une critique
écrite étayée. Le prix 2022 sera attribué à un article de forme longue
et/ou un chapitre de livre dans une collection savante, publié en 2020
et/ou 2021.

·      *Prix Jean-Cléo Godin:* Nommé en l’honneur d’un des cofondateurs de
l’ACRT et de la SQET, le prix récompense chaque année le meilleur article
(recherche *ou* recherche-création) de langue française. Il honore le
mérite d’un·e chercheur·se ainsi que ses travaux dans le domaine du théâtre
ou de la performance au Canada.

·      *Prix Ann Saddlemyer :* Nommé en l’honneur d’une des cofondatrices
de l’Association, le prix Ann Saddlemyer récompense, en alternance, le
meilleur livre (de langue française ou anglaise). Le meilleur livre doit
normalement porter sur un sujet largement canadien et constituer une
contribution substantielle aux études canadiennes sur le théâtre et la
performance. L'œuvre récompensée privilégiera un sujet d'intérêt canadien
et saura constituer un apport majeur aux études canadiennes sur le théâtre
et la performance.

·      *Prix Patrick O’Neill :* Honorant le nom d’un éditeur respecté qui
fit figure de champion pour l’Association, le prix Patrick O’Neill
récompense chaque année le meilleur ouvrage collectif, publié en français
ou en anglais, traitant de théâtre ou de performance au Canada. Le prix est
décerné en alternance à une anthologie de pièces, puis l’année suivante à
un recueil d’essais. Pour le prix 2022, les collections d'articles savants
publiés en 2020 ou 2021 seront considérées.
