The Theatre and Performance program at the University of Waterloo is searching for an instructor for our Approaches to Acting with Text course (THPERF 321) which will be offered in the fall term.  This is a course for upper-year students to apply conceptual and theoretical approaches to acting in traditions emphasizing the text as a resource for performance. This is one of two senior acting courses, the other with a focus on the body.  Students in this course would have taken both the intro to performance course (102) and performing text (221).  Performing text is the prerequisite, and allows students to explore technique to analyze, interpret, and perform texts.

In the fall term of 2022, this course will be taught in person, with an overall capacity of 20 students.  Class times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 p.m. - 2:20 p.m.

The contract is a sessional teaching contract ($8,910) over the 4-month term.  The instructor will be responsible for:

  *   developing the syllabus, based on the learning outcomes supplied by the program,
  *   leading classes in person,
  *   supplying reading/viewing materials for the students,
  *   marking assignments, offering constructive feedback, and grading the students.

First day of class                                  Wednesday, September 7
Reading Week                                     October 10 - 14 (no classes and no assignments can be due)
Last day of class                                  Tuesday, December 6
Exam Period                                        December 9 - 23
Final grades due                                  Friday, December 23
