Critical Stages/Scènes critiques is a peer-reviewed online journal fully committed to the Open Access Initiative.

The journal is indexed by SCOPUS, DOAJ, MIAR, ERIH Plus, DRJI, and GOOGLE SCHOLAR and listed in Ulrich’s web Global Serials.

The “Essays” section is dedicated to urgent issues related to theatre and performance making, ways of thinking and writing about theatre and performing arts, ways of viewing and reflecting practices, pedagogies of performance and text analysis, practices of dramaturgy, interdisciplinarity, transcultural approaches and digitalization of communication in theatre and cultural performance, among other issues.

The aim of the “Essays” section<https://www.critical-stages.org/28/category/essays/> <https://www.critical-stages.org/28/category/essays/> is to offer a broader communication outlet to discuss recent developments in theatre and performance across national and disciplinary boundaries.

Submission: Please submit your abstract as an e-mail attachment, double-spaced in MS Word. The section editor will contact you personally with more details about how to submit the actual article.  We assume that an article submitted for consideration has not been published and is not being considered for publication elsewhere, either in the submitted or in a modified form.

Permissions: Critical Stages publishes writings that have not been previously published in English or French. Permission to reprint articles is granted with the requirement to include “First published in Critical Stages,” along with other citation information and the web address of the journal.

Photos: Photos (JPEG) and other types of illustrations are necessary. The position of the photo should be designated in the article. All necessary permissions for images should be provided. These can be in the form of an e-mail from the company, or documentation that you have procured the images from an official website.

Note: If the performance the author attended is other than the opening night, please include mention of the actual date in the text itself. General information regarding the production, however, should match the date recorded in national and international databases.

Photo Captions: Each photo of a performance needs a caption detailing the context/situation depicted, particularly the names of the performers (roles), and photo credits.

La section "Essais" est réservée aux questions urgentes liées à la création théâtrale et à la performance, aux façons de penser et d'écrire sur le théâtre et les arts du spectacle, aux façons de voir et de réfléchir aux pratiques, aux pédagogies de la performance et de l'analyse de texte, aux pratiques de la dramaturgie, à l'interdisciplinarité, aux approches transculturelles et à la numérisation de la communication dans le domaine du théâtre et de la performance culturelle, entre autres.

Soumission : Veuillez soumettre votre résumé sous forme de pièce jointe à un courriel, à double interligne et en MS Word.  Le responsable de la section Essais vous contactera personnellement pour vous donner plus de détails sur la manière de soumettre l'article définitif. Nous partons du principe qu'un article soumis n'a pas été publié et qu'il n'est pas envisagé de le publier ailleurs, que ce soit sous sa forme actuelle ou sous une forme modifiée.

Autorisations : Scènes critiques publie des textes qui n'ont pas été publiés auparavant en anglais ou en français. L'autorisation de republier les articles est accordée à condition d'inclure la mention « D’abord paru dans Scènes critiques », ainsi que d'autres informations relatives à la citation et l'adresse Web de la revue.

Photos : Les photos (en JPEG) et autres types d'illustrations sont nécessaires. La position de la photo doit être indiquée dans l'article. Toutes les autorisations nécessaires pour les images doivent être fournies. Celles-ci peuvent prendre la forme d'un courrier électronique de l'entreprise ou d'un document attestant que vous avez obtenu les images sur un site Web officiel.

Note : Si la représentation à laquelle l'auteur a assisté n'est pas la soirée de première, veuillez mentionner la date réelle dans le texte.
