TRIC/RTAC invites submissions of articles and forum pieces for its Spring 2027 issue.

TRIC/RTAC is Canada’s only peer-reviewed journal with an explicit focus on Canadian and Québécois theatre in both official languages and a dedication to supporting research that explores Indigenous theatre and performance cultures.

We welcome submissions in English and French for both sections:

  1.  articles (6000-8000 words) that draw from a range of critical academic and research-creation approaches applied to the study of theatre and performance. Submissions are peer reviewed by at least two scholars familiar with the content and/or methodology of the article. Due June 12, 2026.
  2.  forum pieces (3000-5000 words) can be position papers, commentary on issues of significance to the journal’s mandate, information about new and old projects, critical interviews, and research notes. Submissions are reviewed by the editorial team. Due October 15, 2026.

TRIC/RTAC is committed to publishing original studies of actors, playwrights, directors, designers, theatre companies and buildings, theatrical genres, festivals, and other large-scale performances, as well as theoretically-grounded studies of individual dramatic works and performance texts. It likewise plays an active role in broadening the parameters of theatre scholarship in Canada, through engagement with multi- and interdisciplinary research; studies of specific cultural groups and intercultural exchange; investigations of new and emergent technologies in Canadian design and performance; and explorations of theatricality and performativity beyond the traditional contexts of theatre and drama. Drawing inspiration from the recent emergence of performance studies as an important cognate discipline, the journal encourages submissions that address such topics as the performance of everyday life; the performativity of race, gender, class, and other identity categories; the performance of nation or community through public acts or spectacles.

Please submit your complete articles (by June 12, 2026) and forum pieces (by October 15, 2026), in French or English, to be considered for Issue 48.1, Spring 2027. Full articles and forum pieces should be typed double-spaced, following the internal editorial style found in the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 8th edition. Articles and forum pieces should include an abstract and brief biographical note (75 words).

TRIC/RTAC sollicite des articles et des textes de forum pour son numéro du printemps, 2027.

TRIC/RTAC est la seule revue canadienne arbitrée qui se consacre au théâtre canadien et québécois dans les deux langues officielles et qui soutient les recherches relatives au théâtre et aux cultures de performance autochtones.

Nous sollicitons des contributions inédites en français et en anglais pour les deux sections de la revue :

  1.  Des articles (6000-8000 mots) qui font appel à diverses approches critiques, théoriques ou de recherche-création appliquées à l’étude du théâtre et de la performance. Les soumissions seront évaluées par au moins deux personnes qui ont une expertise dans le domaine ou la méthodologie du texte proposé. À remettre le 12 juin 2026.
  2.  2) Des textes de la section forum (3000-5000 mots) qui sont réservés aux exposés de principes, aux commentaires sur des enjeux d’intérêt pour la revue, aux renseignements sur des projets anciens ou nouveaux et aux notes de recherche. Les soumissions seront relues par le comité éditorial. À remettre le 15 d’octobre 2026.

Le TRIC/RTAC publie des articles inédits portant sur des comédien·nes, dramaturges, metteur·euses en scène, concepteur·rices, compagnies et bâtiments théâtraux, genres théâtraux, festivals et autres spectacles de grande envergure, ainsi que des analyses théoriques portant sur des œuvres dramatiques et des textes de spectacle. En outre, la revue contribue activement à élargir les paramètres de la recherche théâtrale au Canada par son engagement dans la recherche multi- et interdisciplinaire, l’étude de groupes culturels précis et les échanges interculturels, l’analyse de technologies novatrices dans le domaine du design et de la performance au Canada, et l’exploration de la théâtralité et de la performativité au-delà des contextes traditionnels du théâtre et de l’art dramatique. S’inspirant de l’émergence récente des études de performance en tant que discipline connexe d’envergure, la revue encourage les soumissions qui traitent de sujets tels que la performance au quotidien, la performativité raciale, de genre, de classe ou d’autres catégories identitaires, ainsi que la performance nationale ou communautaire à travers des actions ou des spectacles publics.

La date limite pour les articles complets est le 12 juin 2026 afin d’être admissibles pour une parution dans notre numéro du printemps 2027. La date limite pour les textes de forum est 15 d’octobre 2026.

Les manuscrits complets sont rédigés à double interligne suivant le protocole Le Guide du rédacteur dans les Clés de la rédaction. Ils doivent être accompagnés d’un résumé et d’une brève notice biographique (75 mots).
