Hello HopeSpring PCSG Members!

I hope your summer months are going well! We are looking forward to seeing you back at HopeSpring come the 22nd of September for our first PCSG meeting of the season!

In the meantime, we thought we would pass on some information about the 2010 National Prostate Cancer Conference, which will be taking place at The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, ON. From September 22nd until the 25th 2010.

Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) is a national charitable foundation dedicated to the elimination of prostate cancer through research, education, support, advocacy and awareness.  PCC exists to help individuals and their families understand and cope with prostate cancer by providing up to date information and individual support; lobby for increased funding for research, treatment facilities and programs; and promote the importance of early detection through public education, awareness and special event campaigns.

With an expected 200 or more delegates and delegate partners from support groups across Canada, this conference is central to building a sense of community and mobilization around critical issues for people affected by prostate cancer, and their families.

Sessions/Workshops and discussion topics include:

*         Team building/problem solving

*         The use of advocacy toolkits

*         Building capacity and sustainability within support group leadership structures

*         Medical updates

*         Women and Prostate Cancer

*         And much more!

Fees:

One designated representative from each support group will receive free of charge:  Registration - 3 nights hotel accommodation PLUS one economy airfare (or mileage).  Registration for a spouse or partner is also included.  We ask that when you call the hotel to reserve your room, that you please make reference to the group booking for Prostate Cancer/Prostate Caner Canada Network.

All non designated representatives, their spouse or partner, are required to pay a registration fee of $100 ea., as well as cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

Confirmation of registration/ acknowledgement of your payments will be sent to each participant immediately upon registering for the conference.

The opportunity to take advantage of the free of charge offer will be given to HopeSpring members on a first come first serve basis.  Otherwise, as was stated above, the cost of each person will be $100 (plus the cost of accommodation and travel).
