Hi all:

Below is a note from Jessica Bailey, a cancer survivor.

You may know Ken Steele, her soon to be father-in-law who is the Vice Chair
& Finance Director of PCCN W-W.

Please check out the info & consider attending the open house with family &
friends.

Take care,

Glen Chair PCCN W-W

I am now part of the Waterloo Paddling Club. We specialize in dragon
boating.

We have a couple of teams including a breast cancer team/cancer team. In the
future we would like to have one team of each.

We are recruiting at the moment, including needing more members for our
bcs/cs team.

Our other teams are baby dragons (high school), UW alumni/staff. We are also
trying to get a community team and, a first responders team up and running
for 2015 season.

We looking for any survivors and any community members that want to see what
dragon boating is all about.

We are having an open house explaining all about dragon boating, time,
commitment, cost, etc.

Could you please help spread the word about the open house?

Attached is the poster with all the open house details on it.

Below is information about the open house and some other info.

Open House / Info Session Information

Where: Church of the Holy Saviour - 33 Allen St. E, Waterloo

When: Thursday February 26, 7-9 pm

              Saturday February 28, 3-5 pm

Some extra info that I can provide:

Teams practise once or twice a week, depending on the team. Monday night is
an open practice, meaning that any one from any team can come and practice.

Practices are at night typically from 6:30 or 7 pm for approximately 1.5
hrs. We practice at Laurel Creek.

A typical practise - we warm up, move the boat into the water, get our gear
( paddle and lifejacket), load into the boat and go paddle for around 1 hr.
Then reverse the pre-paddle activities.

Paddles and lifejackets are provided by the club.

- A handout with all the details of joining Waterloo Paddling Club
will be given out at the open house

- Joining a dragon boat team has many positive aspects; which include
team spirit, lots of fun, great exercise, new friends, off-season training,
and social activities off the water

- We are looking for individuals who like adventure and team sports,

- No experience needed to join a dragon boat team

- We train for regattas (competitions) throughout the summer

If you have any questions,

you can email the club at info at waterloopaddlingclub.com

or you can contact me, Jessica Bailey at this email, kksmoky at hotmail.com

Thank You For your time and hope to see many people at the open house.

Please send out the word about the open house.

Jessica Bailey
