What is a Biosimilar? All You Need to Know About Biologics & Biosimilars in Canada 

Our next webinar is titled What is a biosimilar? All you need to know about the current biologics and biosimilars landscape in Canada, and will take place on Thursday, November 12th from 1:30pm EDT - 2:30pm EST. This webinar will be presented by Karen Burke, Ph.D. of Amgen Canada, Inc.  

Webinar Information 

The webinar is broken out into two parts:

Part 1:  Biologics - The first part of the presentation will focus on biologics, including an explanation of the high level of precision that is required to produce a consistent biological product each time.

Part 2:  Biosimilars – The second part of the presentation will focus on the growing interest in biosimilars, followed by what we can learn from Europe’s experience. We will also provide Health Canada’s position on biosimilars, discuss key issues surrounding biosimilars relevant to the Canadian market, as well as, the importance of patient safety and patient choice.

Following the presentation, there will be an interactive discussion where listeners will have an opportunity to ask questions and continue the dialogue on biologic medicines and biosimilars.

Karen A. Burke, Ph.D., is the Director of Regulatory Affairs at Amgen Canada Inc, a role she has held since 2006. She is also interim Regulatory Affairs lead for Amgen’s Intercontinental Region. 

Since obtaining her Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from McMaster University, Karen has worked in the pharmaceutical industry in several roles over a career of more than 20 years, including positions in Operations and in Regulatory Affairs at Astra Pharma/AstraZeneca Canada Inc.
