This approach is similar to Xofigo (Radium 223), in targeting cancer cells with an alpha emitter.  The difference is that Xofigo depends upon the uptake of the alpha emitter as a substitute for calcium in bone metastases.  Thus Xofigo is only effective against bone metastases.

The TAT approach binds the alpha emitter to the PSMA peptide that seeks out prostate cancer cells in soft tissues as well as bones.

These first trials are very promising, but, still only the start of the long process required to eventually make it routinely available in the U.S.
