Dear Glen,

Many of you know that in 2016, HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre will become Wellspring Grand River. The decision to join forces with this pan-Canadian organization was based on the need to answer a pressing question:

How can we provide excellent psychosocial cancer care for the next 20 years, in light of growing demand for our services, and increased competition for private dollars, within a sustainable business model?

Wellspring itself is as a 20+ year old organization with a proven track record of developing innovative programming for cancer patients, their families and friends. Wellspring's model strives to ensure that all of its services are evidence-based, and scientifically proven to lessen the burden of cancer. In brief, the Wellspring model allows its affiliates to make important decisions on how to make the most of limited resources – time, money, energy, staff and volunteers.

Wellspring operates four centres in the Greater Toronto Area, with affiliates in London, Niagara, Stratford, Calgary and Edmonton. Their mandate is to take their recognized model across the country, to help people who are coping with cancer.

As Wellspring Grand River, we will continue to provide the type of programs and services that the Waterloo-Wellington Region has come to rely on.; As part of a national network of cancer support centres, we will share best practices, information, technology, and a proven methodology to help those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

The move to join Wellspring is both strategic and intentional.; Looking forward, we can already see the impact of our decision:

1.	Better quality programming for our members – evidence-based and scientifically proven to mitigate the effects of cancer and its treatments;
2.	Greater diversity of services – including those that address the financial impact and burden that cancer places on individuals and families;
3.	Capacity to handle more members, in keeping with the growing needs of the community;
4.	Ability to attract new members from various social, economic and ethnic backgrounds, by providing culturally sensitive programs that cater to the specific needs of these individuals;
5.	A strong ‘case for support’ that will allow us to attract new investors in our organization, based on all of the above;
6.	Increased revenues means greater financial stability, and ensured longevity, and
7.	As an affiliate of Wellspring, we will continue to provide member-focused care, in a welcoming environment, where each person is treated with dignity and respect, as if a member of our own family.

Some of you have been asking when HopeSpring will 'officially' become Wellspring Grand River. We wanted to let you know that our transition is nearly complete. We'll be certain to let you know the date of our official launch as Wellspring Grand River, in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,
