Subject: Early Reminder for NOVEMBER 16th

OAKVILLE/MISSISSAUGA PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP(fellowship, emotional support, information and discussion) cid:image001.jpg at 01CDF27E.DB1D8B40

I will be out of town in early November, so I am sending this out two weeks in advance, rather than the usual one week, for our meeting on: WEDNESDAY NOV 16th - 7:00 PM at the WELLSPRING CENTRE, 2545 SIXTH LINE in OAKVILLE

Another reason for the early notification is to give you lots of advance notice for what should be a very useful and important presentation on

Sexual Health and Prostate Cancer

Our guest speaker Trish Lymburner, MSW, RSW, is a clinical social worker at the Mississauga Halton/Central West Regional Cancer Centre.

Trish will be discussing changes in sexual health due to prostate cancer and coping strategies for couples who are experiencing these changes.

She will also talk about resources where we can receive additional support.

Trish has received training through the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology in Sexual Health and Cancer, Sex Counselling in Cancer and Sexual Health and Prostate Cancer. She has been facilitating the Women's Sexual Health Program for over five years.

She is part of an interdisciplinary group that is working to establish a men's sexual health program. She is a specialist in ensuring that patient education addresses patient learning styles and has trained medical professionals in how to use their patient education skills to discuss sexual health with patients.

This is a topic that has been asked about for some time, so I hope to see a good turn-out of men (and their spouses) for this meeting.

P.S. for anyone who missed last month, we will again have the collection jar for our donation to the “Light Up Wellspring” campaign. Please add to the generous donations from last month.

Walter
