New data from the Netherlands (reported at the EAU meeting in London) suggest that men diagnosed with low-risk prostate cancer and initially managed on active surveillance (AS) had levels of metastasis-free survival at 15 years that were almost indistinguishable from comparable patients who received immediate treatment with either surgery or radiation therapy.
