Open Henna appointment

First come, first served

Henna: The henna is applied freehand using no stencils. The artist draws the design onto the participant.The design lasts approximately two weeks and dries within an hour. You will benefit from a very calming and relaxing experience, feel strong and beautiful and gain self confidence and self esteem during your healing process. They also help relieve the burning side effects experienced during chemo.

Cambridge Women's Support Group

A weekly chance to support one another

Support among the group is offered, tips are shared and strategies for coping discussed.  A wide range of on top of mind topics are discussed each week including everyday life events, past, present or future. Come discuss concerns about your future cancer treatments, eating problems and relationship issues.  The group is warm and friendly and a good social circle for women with cancer.

Better Sleep

Learn techniques for effective rest

Having difficulty falling asleep at night? Do you wake during the night and struggle to get back to sleep? Do you wake feeling tired? Do you have troubles settling your busy brain at night?

This program provides an overview of what robs us of energizing sleep and presents strategies to decrease insomnia through effective sleep behaviours, setting realistic sleep goals, relaxing the body and resting a busy brain. Over this 5-week program, members will learn sleep strengthening behaviours and techniques that prepare the mind and body for a restful night.

Breast Cancer and Nutrition

Connections between what you eat and your breast cancer

In this program you will increase your knowledge related to the role of nutrition and breast cancer. Suggestions for dietary changes to help in the prevention and/or recurrence of breast cancer are covered. Other topics include the impacts of healthy eating and weight, supplements, alcohol, physical activity, phytoestrogens, organic foods, calcium and Vitamin D. Only those who have been a patient or have a family member at GRRCC can be registered at this time.

Healing Journey Two

Starting this week after a delayed start!

The Healing Journey is a comprehensive two-level coping skills program that provides emotional support, coping strategies and oppportunities to network with others. Delivered by experienced professionals, the Healing Journey is a wide-ranging program that includes both small-and-large-group formats, opportunities for discussion and cancer and its impact, demonstration and practice of proving coping strategies and discussion of the spiritual dimensions of cancer.

This is six week program. Commitment to attend all six sessions is required. Healing Journey Two is a natural progression from Healing Journey One. You are required to have completed Healing Journey One to register for this program. Join us for the next level of your healing journey.

This program provides an opportunity for men who are patients in active or post treatment and caregivers to meet with each other for information gathering, networking, and conversation about their experience with cancer. Monthly group for women facing ovarian cancer

Women can share their concerns about the impact of living with Ovarian Cancer. This support group is professional facilitated and offers education, information on resources, and caring support whether you are newly diagnosed or for women who are facing recurrence. The group meets every 3rd Thursday of the month.

Thursday Gentle Yoga for Symptom Management in Kitchener

Stretch and strengthen

This is a gentle yoga to help exercise control over physical and emotional well-being by combining movements, breathing, stretching, body poses and meditation practice. This program is specifically for patients who have significant adverse physical symptoms (e.g., pain, instability, mobility problems due to surgery) that requires an especially gentle style of yoga that can be modified to each member's needs. The primary objective of this type of yoga session is symptom relief.
