The Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee said that Robotic Surgery costs more than traditional surgery and they should not pay for it! That is not true if all the costs are considered!

What this article did not emphasised is that Robotic Surgery typically only requires one overnight stay, whereas open surgery will result in two, three or four days stay in hospital. Overall, a significant saving for days in hospital.  So, their recommendation was flawed!

Along with several other considerations we think that the Province should continue to support Robotic Surgery for Prostate and other Cancers.
