It's been very busy at HopeSpring in the last few weeks. We are thrilled to announce donations from Thrift on Kent, Gore Mutual Foundation, the Zumbathon held in our honour and the Cambridge Bay for their donation from their Annual Day of Giving campaign.

Body Image and Self Esteem
Learn to love your body
Body image involves the way we think and feel about our bodies. Cancer can change the way we look and how we experience our bodies both physically and emotionally. It can impact the way the body functions, leave scars, make you lose your hair, and cause changes in moods and energy levels. These changes can have an impact on our self-esteem. In this workshop we will explore the impact of a negative body image on self-esteem of a negative body image on self-esteem and identify strategies to assist you in developing a healthy body image. If you have concerns or questions about your body image, this workshop will allow you to talk openly with a health care professional.

Cambridge Gentle Yoga for Symptom Management
Gentle Yoga for reducing symptoms
This is a gentle yoga to help exercise control over physical and emotional well-being by combining movements, breathing, stretching, body poses and meditation practice. This program is specifically for patients who have significant adverse physical symptoms (e.g., pain, instability, mobility problems due to surgery) that requires an especially gentle style of yoga that can be modified to each member's needs. The primary objective of this type of yoga session is symptom relief.

Learn about breast cancer and nutrition
In this program, you will increase your knowledge related to the role of nutrition and breast cancer. Suggestions for dietary changes to help in the prevention and/or recurrence of breast cancer are covered. Other topics include the impacts of healthy eating and weight, supplements, alcohol, physical activity, phytoestrogens, organic foods, calcium and Vitamin D. Only those who have been a patient or have a family member at GRRCC can be registered at this time.

This one-hour workshop is an introduction to the emotional, physiological, physical and practical issues faced by people diagnosed with cancer. Waterloo Thai Chi
Perfect for those who wish to learn Thai Chi
This coping-skills program is a traditional Chinese system of health preservation that combines movement, meditation and breathing exercises to promote emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. Though traditionally performed while standing, most of the slow, gentle movements are easily adapted for members who find it necessary to remain seated because of illness or injury. Members, family and caregivers are all welcome. If you can breathe you can join us.
