We had hoped to have Dr. Feifer from Credit Valley Hospital to kick off the
New Year but he has had to reschedule to March.

So instead we will have a mixed program next week.

After introductions of any new guests and quick updates from others, our
member Philip Zacarias will give a short presentation on a topic of interest
in prostate cancer. I expect that will generate more discussions and
questions and, as usual, we will go from there and easily fill up our two
hours.

Speaking of topics of interest, before our meeting next Wednesday, Prostate
Cancer Canada will be using a webinar format to introduce their new PSA
testing guidelines to as wide an audience as possible. We can all link in,
hear about it first-hand, then talk about it that evening.

We are wasting no time in capitalizing on the new relationship. Next month
we will have a presentation on the drug approval process in Canada and
patient access to new PC drugs such as Xtandi. More info in next month's
reminder.

Three years ago this month, we had an interesting talk on general cancer
research from the Research Information Outreach Team (R.I.O.T).
They are doing it again this month at Wellspring: Thursday, January 31, 1 -
2:30 p.m.  (broadcast live from Wellspring Downtown)
"you will learn more about the fundamentals of cancer biology, what makes
cancer hard to treat and you will discuss the complexities that underlie
cancer at the molecular level. You will be able to learn from cancer
biologists firsthand about the major fields of cancer research and how
research is generally funded."
