Unfortunately, many men still don’t get diagnosed until their cancer has spread, at which point 3 of 4 men will be lost.

I’m one of thousands of Canadian men living with stage IV prostate cancer. On the fifth year of my journey I found out the cancer spread. At first, I didn’t feel sick at all. As I went through treatments and experienced side effects, it hit home that this was real. I’m now on a new type of hormone therapy, Enzalutamide. My energy is limited and I have hot flashes. Both are manageable but clearly indicate I’m different than before my diagnosis. I strongly encourage men over 50 to have regular PSA tests, and to support Prostate Cancer Canada’s work to fund new treatments and better tests to find the disease early.
