Cancer survivors, advocates, patients, and caregivers joined CCSN staff at City Hall Monday for the Mayor’s Proclamation. Mayor Jim Watson officially proclaimed the month of June to be National Cancer Survivors Month.
This event also offered cancer survivors a chance to gather and share their stories, while also discussing matters of patient advocacy and public policy. 
The Canadian Cancer Survivor Network is grateful to Mayor Jim Watson for his ongoing support of cancer survivors, and for his recognition of National Cancer Survivors Month this June.

We are emPOWERED to fight cancer

Patients, survivors, and caregivers in Ottawa and Gatineau are invited to attend the Canadian Cancer Survivor Network’s (CCSN) breakfast event “WE are emPOWERED to fight cancer” taking place on June 11th from 8-9:30 AM on Parliament Hill. 
As you may know, 1 out of 2 Canadians will be affected by cancer in their lifetime and 9 out of 10 Canadians with cancer are over the age of 50. This event is an opportunity to discuss how we can build our health system so that older Canadians, who are disproportionately affected by cancer, have the care and treatments they need to get better.

We kindly ask any patient, survivor, caregiver, or family members interested to RSVP by Friday, June 7th to  <mailto:jmanthorne at survivornet.ca> jmanthorne at survivornet.ca.
