HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre announces:
New Executive Director

Press Release: April 30, 2019

Waterloo, Ontario – HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre announces today that Jane Mitchell has joined the organization as Executive Director, effective April 30, 2019. Ms. Mitchell will report directly to the Board of Directors, HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre. We wish to thank Lois Peterson for her strong work ethic and determination during her term as Executive Director during our crucial transition period.

“Jane’s deep passion and long-term regional experience brings a strong expertise and methodical approach to cancer care support.  I am convinced Jane’s political know-how, regional Board management and strong leadership relationships within the community will further strengthen HopeSpring’s deep rooted community initiatives and strengthen our mission and strategies moving forward.” Shawn Hlowatzki, President, Board of Directors.

"I am excited to join HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre. I have personally been touched by cancer in my life involving friends and family and have seen first-hand the impact HopeSpring has made in the lives of some of these individuals. As a regional Councilor I had heard how important cancer care support is for our community. I look forward to continuing the evolution and transformation projects at HopeSpring as their new Executive Director.  HopeSpring is one of the best kept cancer care secrets in our community and I will partner with the Board of Directors to raise the awareness and profile so all those facing the cancer journey know we are here to help." Jane Mitchell.

Ms. Mitchell was an elected Regional Councilor and Public School Board Trustee with more than 30 years of experience.  She was the librarian at Renison University College.  Most recently, Ms. Mitchell served as Chair of the Grand River Conservation Authority.  Ms. Mitchell has been actively involved within the community and is well known for her Regional leadership. Ms. Mitchell pioneered the Waterloo Region Women's Municipal Campaign School, which has proudly supported and increased female participation at the local and regional levels of government.

HopeSpring does not receive government funding and relies the generosity our community for support.
