HopeSpring Helping People Meet the Challenge of Cancer

Past donors and giving partners you’ve been a huge part of our organization’s fabric over the years. We can’t thank you enough for your continued support of the cancer care work at HopeSpring.

This last year is like no other and has affected everyone in particularly challenging ways, particularly those living with cancer.  

2020 A Year to Remember

2020 has been especially difficult for those diagnosed and living with cancer and equally for those who love and support them in our community.  Cancer on its own can be extremely tough, then add in the stress of COVID-19, making the journey that much more challenging.

Part of our mandate at HopeSpring is to advocate for our community members with cancer to ensure funders such as The United Way, the local, provincial and federal governments and our community do not overlook this very vulnerable population. One thing we DO know - Cancer has not stopped because of COVID!

Higher demands for services in 2020 

When the pandemic commenced in March 2020, and altered life as we knew it, our members continued to receive programming via Zoom, the benefits of strengthened health care partnerships and home-delivery of wigs, camisoles, masks and educational materials.

Our community relies on cancer care services, HopeSpring saw a surge in membership in 2020, resulting in double digit increases in many of our programs.

Importance of future cancer care for our community

Statistics show that 1 in 2 people in our community will be diagnosed with cancer by 2023 and the survival rate will reach the 75% mark, thereby increasing future need for cancer care and support.

As a result, HopeSpring must ensure that the infrastructure is in place to sustain the programs for both those facing a cancer journey and its survivors. Your contribution will safeguard future cancer care for our community and its members.
