[Ofas_deptadmin] OFAS Development Update – April 2025 & Team Announcement

Good morning, OFAS Department Admins,

The Arts Computing Office (ACO) would like to inform you that Herbert Balagtas is no longer with the ACO. Moving forward, all OFAS development work will be handled by Jameson Schildroth<mailto:jschildr at uwaterloo.ca>.

We’re pleased to announce that development on the OFAS system has resumed. This includes addressing bug fixes, processing change requests, and introducing new features. Our goal is to provide monthly updates to keep you informed of ongoing improvements.

To help streamline communication, we have created a mailing list and have added all OFAS department admins. If you no longer need to receive these updates—or if someone on your team should be added or removed—please let us know, and we’ll update the list accordingly.

April 2025 – Deployed Updates
Below is a summary of the updates released this month:

ACODEV-73 – Introduced a new Changelog Reporting feature that will display a history of system changes. Access it via: Admin Dashboard > Settings > Changelog.


  *
ACODEV-5 – Updated job requirements text from “Teaching dossier and or link to an e-portfolio” to “Teaching Dossier.”


  *
ACODEV-64 – Resolved a 500 error that occurred when accessing pages with invalid department slugs.


  *
ACODEV-10 – Fixed an issue where applicants who met the minimum referral requirements were still marked as incomplete.


  *
ACODEV-4 – Added two new job ranks: Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and Associate Professor, Teaching Stream.


  *
ACODEV-59 – Enabled admins to remove referees, provided the minimum required number is maintained.


  *
ACODEV-49 – Added dashboard messaging to clarify that only a limited number of recent applications are shown, and users should refer to the job posting for the full list.


  *
ACODEV-65 – Adjusted job creation logic so that the default start date is now set to the next Monday instead of the current date.


  *
ACODEV-69 – Implemented a modal window during request processing to prevent duplicate form submissions.


  *
ACODEV-33 – Centralized all development-related notifications under a shared development mailbox.
