Subject: PUC's New Web Site!

PUC GOES ON LINE! http://www.puc.ca

Playwrights Union of Canada launches the most comprehensive
Canadian Theatre site on the Internet!
PUC is pleased to announce the launch of it's new World Wide Web
site. The site contains a fully searchable database of over 1500 Canadian
Plays, the entire Who's Who in the Playwrights Union of Canada, up-to-date
information about the latest releases (and back list) of Playwrights Canada
Press, and information and news about all aspects of the Playwrights Union
itself.
        The PUC site is divided into four sections: PUC; Who's Who;
Catalogue; and Books. It will be launched in two phases.
PHASE ONE: Launch Date May 1, 1996.
Who's Who
An on-line version of Who's Who in the Playwrights Union of Canada. Each
PUC member has a separate page, including a photo, short bio and lists of
plays, productions, publications and awards. Every page contains a link to
the Catalogue of Canadian Plays, allowing users to move easily back and
forth.
Catalogue
The on-line Catalogue of Canadian Plays is a fully searchable database of
every play that PUC has for sale. It will be an extremely valuable resource
for anyone interested in Canadian plays - from actors and directors to
students and educators.
Users can search for plays by author, title, style, length, and casting
breakdown.
Example: a search for one-act comedies with a cast of four women and two
men generates the following list of plays:

Author: Gonzalez-Risso, Kico
Play: Egomaniac
Author: Gonzalez-Risso, Kico
Play: Sex Maniac
Author: Bench, Park
Play: The Death of Simon Bellyitch
Author: Rose Scollard
Play: The Man Who Collected Women
Author: Wylie, Betty Jane
Play: How to Speak Male

By clicking on the play title, the user can see a detailed
description of the play, including synopsis, style, casting breakdown,
length, format, and price. Or, by clicking on the author's name, the user
can see a complete list of that person's plays. The user can also move
directly to the playwright's Who's Who listing.
On every page is a clickable button which will take the user to an
e-mail order form, where she can fill in the titles and authors of the
books she wants, and pay for them via credit card, or arrange to be
invoiced.

PHASE TWO: Launch Date June 1, 1996.

Books
This section is devoted exclusively to PUC's publishing arm,
Playwrights Canada Press. It provides information about the latest
releases, hot-selling titles, collections, and anthologies. Users will be
able to view the back-list, and purchase books via an e-mail order form.

PUC
An in-depth electronic brochure for Playwrights Union - the PUC
section provides information and news about all aspects of the Playwrights
Union of Canada, including: PUC's history and mandate; a description of
programs and services offered to members;  information about CanPlay;
membership info; a directory of Staff, Executive, and National Council
members; a list of PUC reading rooms; news about the latest happenings and
issues of concern to Canadian playwrights; and links to other relevant
Internet sites.

PUC member Greg Nelson designed the Who's Who section, and Northern Lights
designed the Catalogue of Canadian Plays. We think they both did a fabulous
job of it! Many thanks for a job well done.

Come and pay us a visit soon, and let us know what you think!
