Thorneloe University, federated with Laurentian University (Sudbury, Ontario),
invites applications for a 12 month sessional position in Theatre Arts at the
level of Assistant Professor, which can be renewable to a tenure-track
appointment, given good performance and suitability.  Qualifications include a
terminal degree in the field (PhD or MFA) or its equivalent in
creative/scholarly achievement, teaching and professional theatre experience.
The candidate will have strong competency in Theatre History and Theory (ie
Dramaturgy), but also the capability to teach studio courses such as acting
and/or directing, and be willing to mount a yearly departmental production.
Sensibility in other arts desirable, as well as flexibility and willingness to
work with others.  Position starts July 1, 1997.

Theatre Arts at Laurentian currently involves a three year program in Arts
provided by 2.5 faculty members.  It is expected that a joint interdisciplinary
B.F.A. program will be developed incorporating Theatre Arts, Music, Film, and
the Visual Arts, utilizing the faculty of other institutions.  Applications
