Alice Campbell wrote earlier this afternoon asking for information
re. Arthur Deagon, but my attempt to send her a brief reply was
thwarted by either my lack of computer skills or the gremlins inside
the computer. Please accept my apologies for answering to the
Canadian Drama site rather than to Alice Campbell directly.

Arthur K. Deagon's biography appears in Walter Browne and E. De Roy
Koch's work <<Who's who on the Stage, 1908.>>

Deagon was a dancer who primarily appeared in vaudeville and
musicals. He died in Boston of a heart attack on 4 September 1927 at
the age of 56. He was best known for his roles "Rose Marie" and
"Little Nellie Kelly", but also appeared in Ziegfield's Follies and
was a principal member of the New York Hippodrome theatre.

The Deagon's had two children -- Arthur, Jr., and another who died at
the age of one year on 1 July 1911. The family was living in
Freeport, Long Island at the time of the death, but Deagon was
performing on the Orpheum circuit that year.

At the time of his death, he was performing in George M. Cohan's show,
"The Marry Malones" prior to its New York opening. Upon his death,
Cohan assumed his role and the show continued.

A check of the trade papers of the day, for example, The New York
Dramatic Mirror, would probably reveal an obituary. He was survived
by his wife and his son, Arthur, Jr.
