Howard's Exit

It's a joy to think that this list may become a vital discussion about
Canadian Drama/Theatre (regardless of how obnoxious the instigation may
have been)!

It really is difficult to get any sense of what is happening in
theatre on a national level given the geographic sprawl from coast to
coast and the lack of any consistent publication devoted to the scene. I
am sure that Howard is beginning to realize that academics and
practitioners are both vital components of the art/industry. Mind you, I
can relate to his ignorance, as before I was fortunate enough to
have attended my first conference, I had very little experience of the
dialogue which can and does go on between academics outside of their own
institutions and indeed between academics and practitioners. But I expect
that there's a reason why Howard isn't aware of the potential of such
exchange - because it doesn't really go on very often. At least not in a
public forum accessible from coast to coast.

Could Candrama become such a public forum? Will we continue to exchange
ideas beyond the initial 3 weeks of responses from the original
inflammatory post. Hope so.

Best,
